About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) team as a Surgical Care Nurse Specialist. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Critical Care Skills: You will assess, plan, and implement individualized nursing care plans for post-anaesthetic patients, addressing their critical care needs according to physicians' and anaesthetists' orders.
- Communication and Teamwork: You will effectively communicate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, licensed practical nurses, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless care coordination and collaborative problem-solving.
- Patient-Centred Care: You will promote person-centred care, demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect for patients' rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Nursing Practice: You will maintain current clinical competence and knowledge within your area of practice, participating in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- Education: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Experience: One year's recent relevant clinical nursing experience in the designated clinical area, preferably with completion of postgraduate coursework and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area.
- Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated clinical proficiency, proficiency in initiating and maintaining intravenous therapy, and strong communication skills.
Compensation Package
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of CAD $41.42 - $59.52 per hour, four weeks of vacation to start, comprehensive health benefits, and a pension plan.
