Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at McMaster Children's Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to critically ill newborns and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care to patients in the NICU, including ventilation management, oxygen therapy, and airway clearance.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Conduct education and training for nurses, other healthcare professionals, and students on respiratory care and related topics.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to respiratory care.
  • Assist in research projects and contribute to the advancement of respiratory care in the NICU.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Current Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Successful Completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ventilator requirements for the micro-premature population.
  • Demonstrate the philosophy of Family-Centered Care.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental care.
  • Willingness to Precept respiratory therapy clinical students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Experience in a Level 3 NICU within the last 2 years is preferred.
  • Experience attending high-risk deliveries within the last 2 years is preferred.
