We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Waste Management Driver to join our team at J.S Bellis Ltd, a division of The Municipal Group of Companies. As a Waste Management Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Class 3, Side Loader Refuse vehicle.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the vehicle on assigned routes to fill contractual requirements, ensuring that routes are completed in a timely and safe manner. You will also be responsible for daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle, loading and unloading materials, and maintaining telephone or radio contact with the dispatcher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a Class 3, Side Loader Refuse vehicle on assigned routes to fill contractual requirements
  • Perform daily pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment under varying traffic and road conditions
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with the dispatcher to receive delivery instructions
  • Advise the dispatcher of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
  • Report any driving infractions and/or suspensions
  • Perform end of day driver check-ins to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Protect and promote the interest of the company in all matters
  • Ensure the safety of fellow employees

Requirements:

  • Valid commercial driver's license with a clear driver abstract
  • Class 3 driver's license with air brake endorsement in good standing
  • Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by the supervisor
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and comply with procedures
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good coordination and lifting ability
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Previous waste and/or recycling experience preferred
  • Residential curbside collection experience preferred
