We are currently seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to join our team in Ottawa, Canada.

**Job Summary:**

The Senior Corporate Counsel will be responsible for providing legal drafting skills and managing legal strategies to align with the company's business objectives.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Providing legal drafting skills with a view to successful execution of contracts, including leases and franchise documentation.
* Managing legal strategies to align with the company's business objectives, ensuring proactive risk identification and mitigation.
* Planning and coordinating initiatives to assess and address legal risks, safeguarding the company's interests.
* Scheduling and overseeing contract negotiations, including vendor, lease, and franchise agreements, to support optimized business operations.
* Delegating responsibilities to ensure compliance with corporate law, real estate, commercial transactions, and intellectual property regulations.
* Monitoring litigation matters, coordinating with external counsel to manage risks and control costs.
* Directing the development of policies and practices related to corporate governance and shareholder matters.
* Ensuring legal support for real estate transactions, including leasing, acquisitions, dispositions, and property management.
* Maintaining effective collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders to address ongoing legal needs and ensure operational efficiency.

**Requirements:**

* Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited Canadian law school.
* Active membership in the Law Society of Ontario.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience practicing in corporate law.
* Full bilingual proficiency in English and French.
* Industry experience in retail/franchise, consumer goods, supply chain, or e-commerce.
* Experience overseeing litigation matters and working with external counsel.
* Exceptional legal drafting skills, with the ability to create clear and enforceable contracts, including leases and franchise documentation.
* Strong organizational and planning skills to coordinate legal initiatives and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
* Excellent negotiation skills to oversee and drive successful contract outcomes.
* Ability to delegate and manage responsibilities effectively to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor and direct legal assistants or junior team members in day-to-day activities.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess legal risks and implement mitigation strategies.

**What We Offer:**

**Compensation:**
$90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.

This role follows a hybrid remote/onsite schedule, allowing you to work from home and on-site from our Ottawa Head Office.
