Job Overview

The Legal Counsel for BW Solar will advise on all aspects of our solar and energy storage projects in the US and Canada. This role involves providing strategic legal support, managing dispute resolution matters, and collaborating with external counsel and our Corporate Secretarial team in Singapore.

About the Role
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on acquisitions, joint ventures, financing, leases, options, bids, permitting, corporate, insurance, and tax matters.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and real estate agreements for renewable energy transactions.
  • Select, instruct, and manage local external counsel, especially in the US and Canada, and coordinate closings.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory, compliance, and risk issues related to renewable energy, power generation, environmental concerns, anti-trust, sanctions, and anti-bribery.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with the Legal and Corporate Secretarial team in Singapore on BW Group matters and corporate structuring activities.
Requirements
  • Be a licensed attorney in the US and/or Canada.
  • Possess 5-8 years' experience in law, preferably in the renewable energy and/or power generation industry.
  • Have experience in M&A for energy projects and real estate agreements for energy projects.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation and drafting skills, sound business acumen, and passion for the renewables industry.
