About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Clinical Informatics Lead to play a critical role in the success of the complex Oncology Transformation Project. As a key member of the project team, you will provide critical consultative leadership, clinical informatics expertise, planning, and direction at the Program/Specialty Level and with all work streams. Your expertise will ensure the scale and fundamental nature of clinical transformation required is understood at appropriate leadership levels, the achievement of drivers/goals, and the delivery of a well-planned strategy in collaboration with the health organization leaders.

The successful candidate will support an interprofessional team and numerous working groups responsible for the development and implementation of governance, evidence-informed best practice, and standardization within the Cancer Care Program. You will act as a subject matter expert, providing structure/framework, project management support for working groups, initiatives, and projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing oversight for the development of oncology standards to support the implementation of the oncology clinical information system.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of clinical information/data and how these are managed, used, and operationalized within the clinical information system to create knowledge. You will have demonstrated knowledge and skill in the implementation of evidence-based practice in a clinical setting, as well as leadership in clinical and policy change. A broad knowledge of clinical process, workflows, clinical services delivery, and patient/client satisfaction determinants is also essential. The successful candidate will have demonstrated clinical informatics expertise with the ability to apply systems and critical thinking, as well as the ability to utilize current computer applications (Microsoft Office, etc.) and computerized healthcare applications.

The position requires a Temporary Full-time Position with 75 hours bi-weekly, approximately 18 months, with some travel within the province required. The successful candidate will be required to work on weekends and holidays, with standby (on-call) also required. The compensation for this position is $40.15 - $50.19 Hourly, with successful candidates eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
