About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Inspector to join our team at the Municipality of the District of Shelburne. As a Building Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our community's buildings and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement Safety Programs: Assist our management team in developing and implementing safety programs to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with municipal codes and regulations.
  • Plan Review and Site Inspections: Examine building plans, drawings, and site layouts to ensure they meet municipal building codes and regulations.
  • Construction Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of building construction and engineering projects to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Defect and Hazard Identification: Inspect existing buildings for structural defects and fire hazards, and take corrective action to mitigate risks.
  • Code Enforcement: Ensure that all buildings and structures within our municipality comply with municipal codes and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: A certificate or diploma in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Will train, but a background in construction, engineering, or a related field is an asset.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of municipal building codes and regulations, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently.
