Overview:
The Panel/Industrial QAQC position is best suited for a Journeyman Electrician or Electrical Engineer with QAQC experience, that is highly organized, has strong planning skills, and displays a high attention to detail and workmanship. The ability to be self directed, display strong time management skills, work well under pressure with tight deadlines and manage many projects at one time are all necessary skills to have to be successful in this position.
Duties - in general but not limited to:
- understanding and completion of all QAQC turnover packages for control panels and modular buildings, from the start of creation of the ITP based on project requirements through to the final stages of turnover to the Document control department
- Responsible for QA/QC reviews of GCI projects
- Responsible for the reviewing and improvement of GCI QA/QC procedures
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings, specifications, and applicable codes to determine wiring layouts
- Ensuring As-builts are accurate and submitted to our senior electrical designer and / or drafter
- Responsible for Commissioning and Turnover support when required
- Executes the specific inspections on materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities on site.
- Issues the relevant Quality Records and, when necessary, writes and sends to QC Supervisor or Project Foreman non-conformances reports.
- Check cable laying and cable identification.
- Perform all relevant loop checks.
- Perform punch-listing operations.
- Check power transformers, switchboard, accumulator battery, sockets outlet, lighting system.
- Perform visual inspections, dimensional test, checks rating and material for connection.
- Perform tests of continuity, insulation resistance.
- Check installation of instruments.
- Perform tests functional instruments.
- Check pneumatic signal connection.
- Check fiber optic cable.
- Perform test communication functionalities.
- Verify special processes and the relevant workers’ qualifications.
- Witness the tests, controls and inspections carried out.
- Check conformity with the Quality Control Plan, obtain the relevant documentation, check procedures and equipment to be used in tests, controls, and inspections, manage documents certifying tests, controls, and inspections.
- Collaborate with Project Management Team on the writing of Inspection Test Plan’s when requested
- Ensure the correct implementation of the approved Inspection Test Plan
- Ensuring QA/QC documentation and pictures are uploaded to project folders
- Fill out all paperwork and enter computer sheets
- Capture redlines for as-builts
- Assist and provide leadership in the development of robust QA/QC processes and standards to enable successful project completion
- Provide code compliance knowledge and enforcement
- Manage and Track Quality metrics
- Provide training of personnel to ensure awareness of quality procedures and specific responsibilities in the QA/QC process
- Perform onsite field observation of installed work (e.g. concrete, structural steel, process, and mechanical piping, electrical, etc.)
- Recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines, and procedures
- Record observations from job site inspections and complete inspection reports
- Co-ordinate with Project Foreman schedule QAQC inspections and required Project documentation
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and as part of a team
- Comply with GCI Safety Procedures and Protocols
- Attend all mandatory safety meetings - daily and monthly
- Report any existing or potential HSE and QAQC nonconformities to the Project Manager, Project Foreman, QAQC Supervisor &/or Safety Manger.
- Actively participate in QAQC and HSE programs and meetings
- Actively incorporate all HSE processes, procedures, and expectations within your daily work
- Consistently work well with others
- Exhibit good communication skills with clients, subcontractors, GCI Supervisors and other GCI employees
- Other duties as required
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a comparable role
- Electrician - Journeyman or Electrical Engineer, or similkar combination of eduction and work experience.
- Knowledge of PLC’s, VFD’s, generators, compressors, instrument air and instruments, ITP’s, RFI’s, solar panels and systems
- Previous construction experience within the oil and gas industry
- Previous exposure to high voltage electrical installation including switchgear and electric drives
- Instrument calibrations
- A working knowledge of BS/IEC/ISO/API/ATEX/EEMUA codes and standards relating to electrical and instrumentation work
- Working knowledge of construction standards, codes of practice and regulations/legislation relating to electrical and instrumentation work
- Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Package. Familiar with other compute
