About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority as a Pressure Injury Prevention Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating facility and unit-based pressure injury initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement pressure injury prevention strategies
  • Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of existing and new pressure injury prevention initiatives
  • Provide education and training to healthcare teams on pressure injury prevention best practices
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to pressure injury prevention
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of pressure injury prevention initiatives on patient outcomes
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Current LPN registration (in good standing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time clinical experience within the last 5 years in an area with exposure to pressure injury prevention and management practices
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification
  • Working knowledge of best practices for pressure injury prevention
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills in varied contexts
  • Demonstrated initiative and innovative problem-solving
  • Skilled in the facilitation of practice development
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Suite and computer documentation systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN) certification
  • Competencies in other languages, particularly French
