About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Wound Prevention and Management Program. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will play a vital role in supporting the prevention and management of pressure injuries in our facilities.

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating facility and unit-based pressure injury initiatives. You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop and implement evidence-based strategies to prevent pressure injuries and promote best practices in wound care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and planning pressure injury prevention initiatives
  • Implementing and evaluating evidence-based strategies
  • Collaborating with interprofessional teams to promote best practices in wound care
  • Providing education and support to staff on pressure injury prevention and management
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of pressure injury prevention initiatives

About You

We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has a graduate degree from an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Is currently registered (in good standing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Has a minimum of 3 years of full-time clinical experience in an area with exposure to pressure injury prevention and management practices
  • Has BLS-C (HCP) certification
  • Has a working knowledge of best practices for pressure injury prevention
  • Has evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills in varied contexts
  • Has demonstrated initiative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Has skills in the facilitation of practice development
  • Has computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and computer documentation systems
  • Has competencies in other languages, with French being an asset
Hours of Work

This is a long assignment, full-time position (75 hours bi-weekly) with a start date of July 15 and an end date of January 15. Dates are approximate and subject to change.

Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $31.12 - $35.11, with an annual salary of $60,000 - $68,000. With 25 years of Licensed Practical Nursing experience, the hourly rate increases to $36.33, with an annual salary of $70,000.
