Job Summary

The School District #50 (Haida Gwaii) is seeking a qualified Transportation Specialist to operate school buses and ensure the safety and cleanliness of the vehicles. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Manager of Operations and will be responsible for transporting students within the district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate school buses safely and efficiently
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the buses
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve transportation goals
Requirements
  • Grade 10 graduation
  • Valid BC Class 2 Driver's License
  • One year of related experience
  • Ability to interact with students in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply established methods and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Physical capability to perform the job duties
  • Willingness to obtain Worksafe BC - Level 1 First Aid if requested
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Haida culture and language
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities
