The All Purpose Clerk plays a vital role in the success of our stores. This position requires a highly motivated and team-oriented individual who is able to work in a fast-paced sales environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, processing cash register payments, maintaining stock levels, and performing backroom and inventory management tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold and comply with company procedures, standards, and policies in all situations.
  • Greet customers in a polite and friendly manner.
  • Demonstrate superior customer service in accordance with Safeway's programs.
  • Process cash register payments by cash, cheque, credit card, gift card, and debit.
  • Wrap and place merchandise in bags/carts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of check stands.
  • Stock product to shelves such as Dairy, Frozen, perishable (produce) and non-perishables.
  • Maintain and build merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs.
  • Rotate product.
  • Load and unload product for the sales floor.
  • Backroom and inventory management.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent bending, walking, standing, twisting, pushing or pulling, and occasional lifting or carrying of up to 20-50 pounds including waist level and low level lifts. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a safe and responsible manner, meeting the physical demands of this role.
