Job Title: Youth Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Coast Mental Health. As a key member of our community-based rehabilitation services, you will play a vital role in supporting youth who are experiencing issues related to addictions, mental health, and homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide community outreach and support to youth in need, connecting them with essential services and resources.
  • Develop and implement individualized life skills programs to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Collaborate with clients, peers, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive support and advocacy.
  • Conduct assessments and develop plans to address clients' physical and mental health needs.
  • Provide education and support on harm reduction, crisis de-escalation, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Work effectively with clients living with mental illness, substance misuse issues, and other complex needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Community Social Service or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with youth in need, preferably in a community-based setting.
  • Knowledge of housing issues, local resources, and harm reduction approaches.
  • Certificates in First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, and FoodSafe.
  • Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance, TB Clearance, and Immunization Records.
