Community Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as a Program Director for the Durham PlayON location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of instructors in delivering high-quality programs that promote physical activity, socialization, and skill development among children and youth.

About the Role:

  • Lead a team of instructors in planning and implementing quality recreation-based programs;
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff members to ensure they meet program objectives and deliver excellent service to participants;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including schools, local organizations, and government agencies;
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure alignment with YMCA goals and objectives;
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants and staff;
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and respect within the program;
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to program delivery and participant engagement;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, recreation, child and youth care) or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in leadership roles, preferably in a recreation or educational setting;
  • Proven track record of successfully leading teams and achieving program outcomes;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle;
  • Familiarity with YMCA policies and procedures.
