About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation. As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing internal monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, working closely with various departments such as other finance teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and analyze financial data to produce underwriting results and expenses forecasts.
  • Collaborate with actuaries to understand underwriting results and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support business units in the management of their operational expenses.
  • Participate in financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives.
  • Review and recommend changes to accounting treatments related to our operations.
  • Develop and implement controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.

Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards and/or finance.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, VBA, Smartview is an asset.
  • Fast learning, agility and adaptability to change.
  • Discipline, autonomy and professionalism.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
  • No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada.
