- Medication Administration and Treatment: Administer medications and perform treatments within the scope of your practice, adhering to applicable regulations and standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document patient data, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with the Registered Nurse and other healthcare professionals to manage complex situations and promote a safe and therapeutic environment.
- Patient Education and Support: Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting effective therapeutic relationships and empowering patients to take control of their recovery.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge and best practices in mental health care, adhering to the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards for RPNs.
- Education and Certification: Graduate of a recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing and current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Experience: Minimum of two years recent experience working with adults with psychiatric/mental health illness, preferably in a mental health setting.
- Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of CNO Standards, Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Personal Qualities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong commitment to patient-centered care and a collaborative team approach.
