This is a senior management position that is non-unionized. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safe operation of the vessel, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and protecting the commercial interests of the company.

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Job Description

The Master Mariner will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the safe operation of the vessel, including the safety of the crew and passengers
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, including the Canada Shipping Act and Regulations, and the Canada Labour Code
  • Protecting the commercial interests of the company, including managing costs and maintaining relationships with customers and stakeholders

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years recent experience working on dry-bulk vessels, excellent leadership skills, and a strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required for this position:

  • Master Mariner (preferred) or Master, Near Coastal
  • General Operator's License (GOC)
  • GLPA certificate (preferred)
  • Ship Security Officer (preferred)
  • MED training with respect to STCW Basic Safety
  • MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats
  • MED in advanced fire fighting
  • Marine Medical
  • Personnel with Security Duties
