About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ocean Freight Coordinator to join our team at Ontrek Logistics Inc. As a key member of our logistics operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods and materials across the globe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and prioritize orders and instructions from customers
  • Develop and implement plans to optimize logistics operations
  • Oversee the operational logistics of the organization, ensuring smooth and efficient movement of goods
  • Plan and organize the operational logistics of the organization, including tracking and completing work orders
  • Monitor the movement of supplies and materials between departments
  • Perform routine clerical duties, including preparing and submitting reports
  • Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and machinery, and arrange for maintenance and repair work as needed
  • Monitor personnel workloads and locations, and resolve work problems and provide technical advice as required
  • Co-ordinate activities with warehouse and production units, and co-ordinate traffic flow of supplies
  • Compile worksheets and specifications of orders, and consult with production supervisors to schedule production runs in a cost and time-efficient manner
  • Estimate the type and quantity of materials and labour required for production, construction and other projects
  • Monitor production progress, and prepare and maintain progress and other reports
  • Provide customer service, and train workers in duties and policies
  • Arrange training for staff, and conduct performance reviews
  • Co-ordinate, assign and review work, and requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies as needed
Requirements
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of cross-border dispatching regulations and practices, and knowledge of highway trucking and associated rules and regulations
  • Ability to process and transmit information and instructions to co-ordinate the activities of vehicle operators and crews using dispatching equipment
  • Ability to respond to urgent calls from individuals who find themselves in life-threatening situations and who require assistance
