Job Summary

Aurora Cannabis is seeking an ambitious and hard-working professional to join our Human Resources team in the role of Human Resources Generalist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the main point of contact for facilities in Western Canada, advising on HR best practices related to recruitment, employee relations, performance, and change management.
  • Coordinate and participate in the full-cycle recruitment process, including creating recruitment strategies, screening applications, conducting interviews, and preparing employment offers.
  • Provide best-in-class service to the organization in support of HR management.
  • Proactively collaborate with team managers to identify and plan for human resource needs to meet short and long-term business requirements.
  • Ensure the efficient operations of the HR team by coordinating onboarding activities, such as facilitating New Hire Orientation as needed.
  • Provide consultation and advice to managers on employee relations and human resource issues, aligning with HR guidelines, policies, and procedures that adhere to applicable country and provincial legislation.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the daily operations of the HR team, maintaining accurate data in the HRIS by following established procedures for changes to organizational structure or transfers of employees.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and rollout of HR programs and services.
  • Assist with Workers Compensation Board claims.
  • Assist with various department projects and additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • HR Policies and Procedures: Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address employee inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with employees and managers.
  • HRIS: Understanding of the function of an HRIS and the need to maintain accurate data/employee files.
  • Ability to travel to Comox and Pemberton on a regular basis.
Bonus Points
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. HR certification (e.g., CPHR) is a plus.
  • Proven experience in human resources, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and regulations in BC (other provinces a plus).
  • Experience in recruitment, employee relations, WSBC claims, and benefits administration.
  • Committed to confidentiality and ethical conduct in handling sensitive HR information.
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Flexibility with work and scheduling.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
