The University of Waterloo seeks an experienced Academic Dean to lead our academic programs and provide strategic direction to our faculty and staff. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing academic policies, managing budgets, and overseeing the recruitment and hiring of faculty and staff.

  • Develop and implement academic policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of education and research
  • Manage budgets and resources to support academic programs and initiatives
  • Recruit, hire, and develop faculty and staff to support academic programs and initiatives
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement academic programs and initiatives
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the academic community
  • Ensure compliance with provincial standards and regulations
  • Manage and oversee the work of subordinate staff and faculty
  • Develop and implement plans to improve academic programs and services
  • Represent the University at external events and meetings

  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience in academic administration
  • Proven track record of leadership and management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
  • Knowledge of provincial standards and regulations
