We are seeking an experienced and visionary Academic Dean to join our team at the University of Waterloo. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the academic direction of our institution.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement academic policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of academic excellence.
- Lead and manage a team of faculty and staff to achieve academic goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with faculty officials to develop registration policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and improve academic programs to ensure they meet the needs of our students and the community.
- Plan and organize academic activities, including curriculum development and research initiatives.
- Consult with government regulatory and licensing agencies to ensure compliance with provincial standards.
- Direct and control academic and related activities of the school, including budget planning and management.
- Recruit and hire teachers and other staff to support academic programs.
- Advise the president or rector of the university or college on academic matters.
- Direct research and curriculum development through subordinate staff.
- Plan, administer, and control budgets for projects, programs, support services, and equipment.
- Recommend and approve faculty appointments, curriculum revisions, and scheduling of courses.
- Doctorate degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in higher education leadership or a related field.
- Proven track record of academic leadership and management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with budget planning and management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a large workload.
