The University of Waterloo seeks an experienced Academic Dean to lead our academic programs and faculty. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing registration policies, directing academic and related activities, and evaluating academic performance.
Responsibilities- Consult with faculty officials to develop registration policies and procedures.
- Direct and control academic and related activities of the school, including research and curriculum development.
- Evaluate academic activities and programs to ensure they meet provincial standards.
- Plan and organize academic and related activities, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Review registration statistics and make recommendations for improvement.
- Consult with government regulatory and licensing agencies to ensure conformance to provincial standards.
- Direct activities of staff and others engaged in compiling information on courses, schedules, and requirements for admission and graduation.
- Recruit and hire teachers and other staff, including faculty appointments.
- Advise the president or rector of the university or college on academic matters.
- Direct, through subordinate staff, research and curriculum development.
- Plan, administer, and control budgets for projects, programs, support services, and equipment.
- Recommend and approve faculty appointments, curriculum revisions, and additions, and scheduling of courses.
- Doctorate degree or equivalent experience.
- 5 years or more of experience in higher education leadership or a related field.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with database software and computer technology.
