About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Addiction Support Specialist to join our team at BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services in Coquitlam, BC. As an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

What You'll Do
  • Monitor clients' progress, observing behaviors and symptoms, and documenting observations according to standard procedures.
  • Participate in admission, case planning, and discharge processes by conducting client interviews, assessing needs, gathering records, and attending team meetings.
  • Establish rapport with clients, providing emotional support, counseling, and assistance with daily living activities, time management, organization, and interpersonal communication.
  • Escort clients to medical, dental, and social appointments and act as a positive role model to facilitate social behaviors.
  • Contribute to case planning, interviewing clients to identify problems, collecting relevant records, and documenting progress. Coordinate services with medical professionals and utilize community resources while advocating for clients.
What We're Looking For
  • Diploma from a recognized Social Services Support Worker program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • TWO years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid driver's license for local area travel.
