ROLE

The Electrical Foreman at OZZ Electric Inc is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of electrical construction projects. Reporting to the Site Supervisor, this role requires strong coordination and management skills to ensure the efficient use of labor, equipment, tools, and materials by the crew.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Site Foreman is accountable for:

I. SAFETY

Providing leadership that fosters a safe work culture, ensuring the safety of the crew, and understanding the importance and legal liability of the role. This includes:

  • Knowledge and compliance with WCB Acts & Regulations and company safety policies and procedures
  • Facilitating mandatory safety toolbox meetings with the assigned crew
  • Ensuring completion of initial safety and hazard assessments
  • Participating in safety/incident investigations
  • Ensuring vehicle and equipment checks are carried out and any deficiencies are reported

II. LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION

Coordinating the crew, understanding and applying general foreman policies, and being involved in day-to-day disciplinary decisions. This includes:

  • Communicating job expectations and deliverables to the crew
  • Assigning and re-distributing tasks among the crew
  • Recognizing, addressing, and resolving issues among/between crew members
  • Maintaining work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and optimal productivity
  • Applying principles of workplace respect while on site
  • Ensuring crew compliance with project/company policies and procedures

III. PLANNING AND SCHEDULING

Accountable for following project plans and schedules, ensuring crews perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals. This includes:

  • Translating general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for the crew
  • Working with the crew to overcome work challenges
  • Periodically reassessing daily goals to meet forecasted production

IV. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

Championing an inclusive employee relations culture, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures by the crew to maintain a respectful and inclusive work environment. This includes:

  • Recognizing, addressing, and resolving issues among/between crew members
  • Promoting, supporting, and facilitating teamwork and harmony among all crew members

V. QUALITY CONTROL

Accountable for ensuring completed work meets quality standards. This includes:

  • On-site assessment prior to commencing work to ensure the job is ready and addressing any concerns
  • Overseeing the execution of work, including quality and production, ensuring the crew works to job specifications and follows plans
  • Inspecting and measuring completed work

REQUIREMENTS

  • Good standing member with the ITA
  • Certificate of Qualification (Red Seal) or equivalent qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as an Electrical Journeyman

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • 24/7 availability may be required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Travel to the site and off-site locations will be required
  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
  • Overtime as required
  • Hazards associated with the trade
  • Exposed to construction sites
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
