Position Summary
Under the guidance of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, or Registered Psychiatric Nurses, you will provide essential support to residents and patients in fulfilling their daily living needs according to established care plans. Your role is integral to delivering compassionate and respectful care that aligns with our organization's core values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence. You will operate within the framework of SH-SS standards and regulations, exercising sound judgment to prioritize tasks and implement effective methods in line with our mission.
Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 education
- Valid Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care)
- Other educational and experience combinations may be considered
- Knowledge of privacy regulations such as PHIA and FIPPA
- Understanding of workplace safety protocols like WHMIS
- Familiarity with Violence Prevention Program (VPP) and SCHIPP
- 1-2 years of healthcare experience preferred
- Experience in caring for elderly or disabled individuals
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations
- Respect for cultural diversity
- Bilingual proficiency (English and French) for applicable positions
- Physical and mental capability to meet the demands of the role
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and work history
Conditions of Employment
- Successful completion and maintenance of satisfactory background checks
- Mandatory immunization for all healthcare workers
- A valid Class 5 driver's license with insurance may be required for certain roles
