About the Role



We are seeking an experienced Engineering Underwriting Manager to lead our team in Ontario, Canada. As a key member of our Engineering Underwriting team, you will be responsible for providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of underwriters, while driving business growth and profitability.



Key Responsibilities




  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of underwriters to achieve business objectives and growth targets.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive business growth, manage risk, and optimize underwriting operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities, develop marketing plans, and execute sales strategies.
  • Manage portfolio performance, including underwriting risk, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including brokers, customers, and internal partners.
  • Coach and mentor underwriters to improve their skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Develop and execute training programs to enhance underwriting capabilities and knowledge.
  • Manage and analyze underwriting data to identify trends, optimize operations, and improve business outcomes.


Requirements



To be successful in this role, you will require:




  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the Equipment Breakdown field, including underwriting of complex risks and code objects.
  • Credible reputation as an industry specialist among peers, broker partners, and with industry associations.
  • Solid experience as a people leader, with a proven track record of coaching, mentoring, and developing underwriters.
  • Previous experience developing insurance products, including Equipment Breakdown products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations, negotiate, and persuade.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Strong marketing and business development skills, with a proven track record of driving sales and growth.
  • Passionate about the Equipment Breakdown Line of Business and committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
