Assistant Professor of Visual Neuroscience Position

The Department of Medical Neuroscience and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Dalhousie University are seeking a highly qualified scientist to join the interdepartmental Retina and Optic Nerve Research Group. This position is designated to applicants who identify in particular equity-deserving groups.
Key Responsibilities- Develop an extramurally funded, dynamic research program in visual neuroscience, with a focus on fundamental and/or translational aspects of retinal circuitry, cell biology, or physiology.
- Expand interactions with clinical research groups in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, leading to collaborative translational research efforts.
- Participate in the training of ophthalmology residents and fellows, and contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and administrative activities at the departmental and faculty levels.
- Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field.
- At least three years of postdoctoral experience.
- Demonstrated research excellence in visual neuroscience.
- Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in teaching.
- Dedicated laboratory space and start-up funds.
- Access to state-of-the-art core facilities, including Cellular and Molecular Digital Imaging, Biological Mass Spectrometry, Electron Microscopy, and Histology.
- Competitive research funding for new faculty members and scholarships for vision research trainees at all levels.
