Position Details Position Information Position Title Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology Posting Number F641P Type of position Tenure Stream Department/Unit Psychology and Neuroscience Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada About the opportunity Dalhousie University is Atlantic Canada's leading research-intensive university and a driver of the region's intellectual, social, and economic development. The Department of Psychology & Neuroscience at Dalhousie University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Clinical Psychology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful applicant will join a department comprised of a large undergraduate and honours program in addition to experimental, neuroscience, and clinical graduate programs. Dalhousie University's CPA-accredited Clinical Psychology PhD program is based on a scientist-practitioner model and is designed to give our graduates a thorough grounding in the science of psychology and the methods of clinical practice, the integration of research and clinical practice, and the promotion of social justice in research and clinical practice. Students are focused on both research and applied training from the beginning of the program, which continues throughout. Due to our emphasis on the science of psychology, our program produces clinical psychologists who blend the ideals of research and clinical service with diverse backgrounds.

Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from a CPA- or APA-accredited program, ideally with accredited internship experience. Applicants who have a PhD in Clinical Psychology should also be eligible for registration as a psychologist in Nova Scotia. Applications from qualified applicants with a PhD in other areas of psychology (e.g., Developmental, Social) or a related discipline, and have an applied research focus and interest in supervising the research of clinical psychology students, will also be considered. The successful applicant will have shown a dedication to scholarship, a demonstrated ability or potential to build and maintain a high-quality research program and will be expected to actively participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching and research supervision, as well as service to the PhD program in Clinical Psychology. There are also opportunities for clinical supervision within the Clinical Psychology Program's state of the art training clinic, the Centre for Psychological Health. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to Departmental and University service needs.

We welcome applicants with any area of research specialization. We will focus on the excellence of the research and the applicant's fit with the clinical program faculty and within the broader department. Ideally, the successful candidate will complement our existing strengths, while also filling gaps in our research, teaching, and clinical expertise. Current faculty members in the clinical program are conducting research in addictions, pediatric pain, knowledge mobilization, sleep, environmental psychology, severe mental illness, psychosocial interventions, sexual dysfunction, transition to parenthood, and personality and psychopathology, using multiple methods (e.g., ecological momentary assessment, observational, longitudinal, RCTs). Further information about the research activities and courses offered in our department can be found on our website at . Further information about Dalhousie can be found at
