About the Opportunity

The Department of Medical Neuroscience and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Dalhousie University are seeking a highly qualified scientist to join the interdepartmental Retina and Optic Nerve Research Group.

This position is designated to applicants who identify in particular equity-deserving groups. The successful candidate will hold a joint tenure-stream appointment in the Department of Medical Neuroscience (80%) and the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science (20%) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop an extramurally funded, dynamic research program in visual neuroscience.
  • Conduct research in fundamental and/or translational aspects of retinal circuitry, cell biology, or physiology, including the optic nerve and retinal pigment epithelium.
  • Participate in the training of ophthalmology residents and fellows.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and administrative activities at the departmental and faculty levels.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • At least three years of postdoctoral experience.
  • Demonstrated research excellence in visual neuroscience.
  • Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in teaching.
