Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Signals Engineer to join our team at Primary Engineering & Construction. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage client relationships, including business development activities, proposal preparation, and project budgeting.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members to design and specify electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.
  • Lead and contribute to the successful design, production, coordination, and management of electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems projects.
  • Develop power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary systems designs using AutoCAD, AGi32 light software, and/or MicroStation.
  • Prepare and review wire sizing, voltage drop, and conduit capacity calculations.
  • Prepare technical reports, tender documentation, and field support, including commissioning/site inspection.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices.
  • Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and project documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in traffic engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic signal design and operations.
  • P.Eng. or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Alberta is required.
  • Must have proven experience in the electrical design of municipal roadway lighting and traffic signal systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code, Alberta Transportation Standards, and familiarity with regional traffic design standards.
  • Proficiency with engineering software, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and AGi32 lighting design software.
