Job Title: Roads Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Roads Engineer to join our team at Primary Engineering & Construction. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical, lighting, and traffic signal systems for various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop power distribution, lighting, and auxiliary systems designs in AutoCAD, AGi32 light software, and/or MicroStation.
  • Prepare technical reports, tender documentation, and field support (including commissioning/site inspection).
  • Ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g. drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures, and sound engineering practices.
  • Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs.
  • Direct and mentor junior staff as required.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in traffic engineering.
  • Must have proven experience in the electrical design of municipal roadway lighting, and traffic signal systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Safety Code, Alberta Transportation Standards as well as familiarity with regional traffic design standards.
  • Proficiency with engineering software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and AGi32 lighting design software.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
