Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters is the leading trade association representing Canada's manufacturing industry. For over 150 years, we have been the voice and champion of manufacturers, working to influence and recommend effective policies that enable manufacturers to compete at home and abroad.

Our industry is the backbone of the Canadian economy, accounting for 10 percent of Canada's GDP, two-thirds of our goods exports, and 1 percent of our workforce.
Job Summary
The Manager, International Trade and Skills Policy will work within a team of government relations, communications, and policy experts to serve as our lead on all matters relating to international trade, skills, and immigration policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, monitor, analyze, and develop responses to federal policies related to international trade, skills, and immigration policy.
- Develop and execute federal advocacy strategies on key issues.
- Build and leverage networks of industry experts, stakeholders, and international partners to advance shared policy objectives.
- Provide political and policy insights to support deliverables such as member briefings, memos, presentations, and communications products.
Requirements
- Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field.
- Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in government relations and advocacy, politics, policy development, communications, and related disciplines.
- Knowledge and curiosity about the issues and trends impacting the manufacturing sector and a passion for advocating for policy solutions that benefit government, industry, workers, and the public.
- Strong understanding of government policy development processes.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and flexible environment by being self-motivating and comfortable managing projects independently or as part of a team.
- Meet the criteria to become a registered lobbyist of the federal government.
- Experience working with an industry trade association is considered an asset.
- Experience working with the manufacturing sector is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (English, French) is an asset.
