Job Title: Line Technician - Telecommunications

We are seeking a skilled Line Technician to join our team at Prema Telecom Inc. As a Line Technician, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining aerial and underground telephone equipment, testing equipment to locate transmission faults, and completing and maintaining test and service reports.

Work Environment

Our Line Technicians work outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces. They are required to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures, and must be comfortable with physical demands such as bending, crouching, and kneeling.

Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment
  • Test equipment to locate transmission faults
  • Complete and maintain test and service reports
  • Determine nature, cause, and location of trouble
  • Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures
  • Connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets
  • Determine work assignments
  • Install cable modems and software to enable Internet access
  • Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers, and amplifiers
  • Splice, join, and connect wires
  • Repair or replace defective telephone equipment
Requirements
  • Working at heights training
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Own transportation
  • Willing to travel
  • Travel expenses paid by employer
  • Willing to travel for extended periods
Working Conditions

Our Line Technicians work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks. They must be able to distinguish between colours and have excellent manual dexterity.
