The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Manager to join our team at Homewood Suites by Hilton Burlington. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel's mechanical systems, guest rooms, and public areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff/contractors in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, hotel rooms, A/C and heating, ice machines, swimming pool, lighting, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, laundry, emergency generators, switch rooms, etc.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely, cost-effective basis and according to specifications.
  • Order necessary materials and tools for repairing equipment and keep within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the hotel.
  • Responsible for administering and documenting equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance.
  • Responsible for the safety of the department and the building.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.
  • Aggressively recruits and staffs department using company hiring standards (i.e. behavioral questioning, reference checks, evaluations and team interviews). Reviews performances and assists in career development.
  • Conducts fire drills, training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.
  • Ensures hotel is in compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws, including Health and Safety, ESA, Human Rights etc.
  • Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.
  • Personal vehicle to travel locally or to other locations is a primary job duty

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. 3+ years progressive maintenance experience in a supervisory role. Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office).

Certification and/or License Requirement: Maintenance Management Professional; Certified Maintenance Manager, Valid provincial driver's license.

Working Conditions:

Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Will be required to work in fast paced, stressful environment.

Ability to travel regularly/operate own vehicle

The major responsibility in this position is preventative maintenance, therefore a significant portion of the day is spent ensuring all equipment is properly functioning (TV, plumbing, electrical lights, HVAC).

The vast majority of time is spent climbing, standing or walking while making repairs in the hotel.

This person must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress and or completion of the assignment.

Carrying or lifting items that weigh approximately 100 pounds occurs often.

Reading and writing abilities are utilized some of the time when having to receive written instructions, or to document the progress of certain repairs.

Basic mathematical skills are used some of the time.

Ability to travel regularly/operate own vehicle
