The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Manager to join our team at Homewood Suites by Hilton Burlington. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel's maintenance and engineering functions.
About the Role:
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for supervising and assisting maintenance staff and contractors in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, hotel rooms, HVAC, ice machines, swimming pool, lighting, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, laundry, emergency generators, and switch rooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist maintenance staff and contractors in the maintenance and repair of hotel facilities.
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely and cost-effective basis and according to specifications.
- Order necessary materials and tools for repairing equipment and maintain a budgetary guideline.
- Maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the hotel.
- Administer and document equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance.
- Ensure the safety of the department and the building.
- Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Provide a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
- Follow company policies and procedures and effectively communicate them to subordinates.
- Aggressively recruit and staff department using company hiring standards.
- Conduct fire drills, training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures, and service guidelines.
- Ensure hotel compliance with all federal, provincial, and local laws, including Health and Safety, ESA, Human Rights, etc.
- Ensure all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years progressive maintenance experience in a supervisory role.
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office).
- Maintenance Management Professional; Certified Maintenance Manager, Valid provincial driver's license.
Working Conditions:
The Maintenance Manager will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The ability to travel regularly and operate a personal vehicle is also required.
Physical/Cognitive Activities:
The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for preventative maintenance, ensuring all equipment is properly functioning. This will involve climbing, standing, or walking while making repairs in the hotel. The ability to receive instructions and communicate progress and completion of assignments is also required. Carrying or lifting items that weigh approximately 100 pounds occurs often. Reading and writing abilities are utilized some of the time when receiving written instructions or documenting progress. Basic mathematical skills are used some of the time.
