Anesthesiologist Position in Comox Valley

Island Health is seeking a full-time Anesthesiologist to join their team at the Comox Valley Hospital.
The Comox Valley Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility with 6 operating rooms, 5 of which are operational, and 1 reserved for emergency caesarean sections.
Anesthesiologists at Island Health provide services for various specialties, including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedics.
They also provide anesthesia for ECT and Cardioversion and assist with emergency intubations in the ER and ICU.
Comox Anesthesiologists run a consultation clinic and an out-of-OR position designated as Rover.
Work ScheduleWeekday call starts at and ends at with mandatory on-site coverage until then home call after that. Precall and postcall are off.
Weekend and stat calls are 24-hour calls to with mandatory on-site coverage from to.
RequirementsApplicants must have recent (within 6 months) pediatric (2 years and older) and obstetrical experience or demonstrate a plan to update these skills.
Shortlisted applicants should plan to spend an absolute minimum of 1 week with the department and ideally longer as a locum in the department.
Once the locum is complete, each candidate will undergo a thorough degree assessment.
Candidates who meet the criteria and have a successful locum will be offered an interview.
BenefitsMay be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy agreement (RSA) including:
- Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10, (pro-rated based on FTE)
- Relocation: up to a maximum of $15, (amount based on location relocating from)
- Fee Premium 6.93%,
- Annual Flat Fee $10,.77
- CME payments of $ in years 3 and 4 and $ after 4 years.
