Geriatric Psychiatrist Opportunity in Comox Valley

Comox, Canada Island Health Full time

The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry at Island Health is seeking a full-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join a dynamic team in Comox Valley. The successful candidate will provide inpatient Psychiatry and Consult Liaison services to patients at Comox Valley Hospital, as well as participate in the hospital's ECT roster. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in Long Term Care Outreach and have opportunities to teach Medical Students, Family Practice and Psychiatry Residents through clinical faculty appointments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide inpatient Psychiatry and Consult Liaison services to patients at Comox Valley Hospital
  • Participate in the hospital's ECT roster
  • Involved in Long Term Care Outreach
  • Opportunities to teach Medical Students, Family Practice and Psychiatry Residents

Requirements:

  • FRCPC Eligible (mandatory)
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Academy of Geriatric Psychiatry
  • Experience in inpatient, facility and outreach experience. Skills in psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, ECT, collaborative, multidisciplinary, community psychogeriatric care required
  • Subspecialty qualification in geriatric psychiatry – obtained or to be obtained - desired
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills
