Heavy Equipment Operations Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Central Alberta. As a key member of our aggregates operations, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the pit.
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and maneuver heavy machinery and cranes according to project requirements, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections to identify any defects or malfunctions and report them promptly.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Follow project plans, blueprints, and specifications to accurately complete assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Excavate, grade, and level construction sites, roadways, and other areas using heavy equipment to prepare for construction activities.
- Loading and unloading materials, debris, or equipment using appropriate machinery while adhering to safety protocols.
- Operate equipment with precision and control, following safety guidelines and regulations to minimize accidents and damage.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate work schedules and ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor and assess environmental conditions and terrain to adjust equipment operation as necessary to maintain safety and productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including equipment usage, fuel consumption, and work performed.
Qualifications:
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with high production demands.
- A valid and appropriate heavy equipment operator license or certification, demonstrating competence and adherence to safety standards.
- Extensive knowledge and experience operating various types of heavy machinery, with a strong understanding of their functions and capabilities.
- Proficient in interpreting project plans, blueprints, and specifications to effectively carry out assigned tasks.
- A sound understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to heavy equipment operation, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and operate heavy machinery for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues, make minor repairs or report major malfunctions.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions accurately.
- An attention to detail and precision in equipment operation, ensuring accurate and efficient completion of assigned tasks.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different project environments and adapt to changing priorities or demands.
- A proven track record of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic, demonstrating commitment to meeting project deadlines and objectives.
- Willingsness to work overtime and shifts when needed, including Saturdays.
