Rehabilitation Assistant, OT/PT

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant, OT/PT to support our Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist teams in an acute care setting. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and make a meaningful contribution to the care and rehabilitation of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with Patient Care and Rehabilitation
Assist assigned patients with established rehabilitation activities such as mobility and strengthening exercises, walking programs, outpatient pool programs, and activities of daily living as directed. Demonstrate to patients the use of prescribed treatment/adaptive devices such as braces, wheelchairs, walkers, and modified eating utensils and personal care items. Instruct general ROM classes as directed. - Report and Communicate Patient Progress
Report observations of patients' behavior and progress to Therapist/Nurse. Communicate concerns and/or changes to patients' condition. - Prepare and Maintain Equipment and Work Area
Set up and organize furnishings and equipment for related activities as directed. Clean and maintain equipment and report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff. Maintain work area in a safe and orderly condition. - Inventory Management and Maintenance
Maintain established inventory of equipment, devices, and materials, and assist in the ordering process following established guidelines. - Perform Minor Repairs and Maintenance
Make minor repairs to splint straps and other such devices using the sewing machine, and make temporary shoe raises using the sanding machine as assigned by the Occupational Therapist. - Record Patient Attendance and Workload Information
Record patients' attendance and workload information statistics following established guidelines. - Transport Patients
Transport patients to and from rehabilitative treatment area utilizing mechanical aids such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
Education and Experience:
Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
