Health and Safety Specialist

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Training Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting and ensuring ministry compliance with The Saskatchewan Employment Act and regulations. You will develop and implement safety policies, safe work practices, and safe operating procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
As a Health, Safety and Training Coordinator, you will:
- Develop and implement safety policies, safe work practices, and safe operating procedures;
- Facilitate the implementation, administration, and review of ministry safety programs;
- Research best practices and design OHS strategies, policies, and programs to mitigate risk and injury;
- Assess and perform needs analysis for safety training requirements;
- Support and assist managers, supervisors, and staff with workplace hazard identification, risk assessments, and Job Safety Analysis;
- Coordinate the investigations of incidents and recommend corrective actions;
- Provide advice and interpretation of various legislation and safety policies to managers, supervisors, workers, and Occupational Health Committees.
Typically, the knowledge for this position would be attained through an Occupational Health and Safety diploma or certificate from a post-secondary institution or other safety-related training. An equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating a high level of problem-solving and communication.
