About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our Fuel Handling team, you will play a critical role in supporting our Refurbishment and New Build projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical equipment and systems, including process-related design for D2O, oil hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Lead technical staff on various tasks, including design, development, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and commissioning.
  • Prepare design documentation, including design requirements, descriptions, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Review design reports, analysis reports, calculations, and documents to support design verification.
  • Perform complex technical calculations, such as heat load analysis, fluid mechanics, and component integrity calculations.
  • Conduct technical meetings with peers, clients, and suppliers.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor junior engineers.
  • Work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and company procedures.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics from an accredited University with a minimum 10 years of experience in machine, automation, equipment, and/or tooling design.
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Solid understanding of mechanics of machine, mechanics of materials, material selection, and fundamentals of machine component design.
  • Solid understanding of fluid mechanics and process system control design, including open and closed-loop oil hydraulic circuit design.
  • Knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section II, III, V, VIII, and IX is an asset.
  • Knowledge of general requirements for pressure-retaining systems and components in CANDU nuclear power plants CSA N285.0 code is an asset.
  • Knowledge of boiler, pressure vessel, and pressure piping CSA B51 code is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • CAD experience in Solid Edge or Solid Works is an asset.
