About the Role

AbCellera is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our CMC Analytical Development team. In this role, you will assist in the build out of mass spectrometric capabilities, design and develop mass spectrometric workflows, and develop a technical strategy to support mass spectrometric demand within the Process Development department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting up, optimizing, and maintaining mass spectrometry instrumentation
  • Designing, developing, and qualifying LC-MS-based analytical methods in support of bioprocess development activities
  • Performing detailed protein characterization, including amino acid sequence confirmation, post-translational modification identification and quantitation, disulfide bond mapping, and integrity analysis
  • Communicating within and across organizations to align methodology and share analytical findings
  • Publishing and communicating technical reports reflecting MS-based investigations and findings
  • Leading method transfers to or co-qualifications with other testing labs, investigations, test performance monitoring/trending, and ensuring the quality and scientific integrity of data generated in their assigned area
  • Supporting CMC projects, ensuring responsibilities are completed on-time and in alignment with GxP expectations
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline or MSc plus 2-5 years of experience in an academic or industry environment
  • Hands-on experience with intact mass analysis, peptide mapping, sequence variant analysis, or other related methods
  • Experience or familiarity with analytical platforms such as Byosphere, Empower, Xcalibur, and analytical chromatography (HPLC/UPLC) coupled to various non-MS detectors and protein chemistry/biophysical methods
  • Strong desire to support early antibody discovery work by developing ways to improve and speed up the discovery to CMC development to GMP manufacturing paradigm
  • Highly motivated and excited about the opportunity to work with an inspired team on challenging problems that matter
