Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada AbCellera Full time

At AbCellera, we're pushing the boundaries of conventional drug development to bring life-changing antibody-based medicines from target to clinic.

We're a team of driven scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. With cutting-edge technologies, we unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.

We're seeking a highly motivated scientist with hands-on laboratory experience in characterizing antibodies and/or other therapeutic proteins using mass spectrometry and other analytical techniques. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you'll thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple competing priorities, and drive scientific innovation to support the discovery of novel monoclonal antibodies for therapeutic use.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and execute experiments independently or collaboratively with teammates
  • Perform mass spectrometry analysis of antibodies and other therapeutic proteins, including intact mass, peptide mapping, glycan profile, and post-translational modification
  • Conduct detailed protein structural interrogation, including sequence confirmation, variant identification, disulfide mapping, and chemical modifications
  • Develop and perform analytical assays for protein characterization, including UPLC, light scattering, CE-SDS, and cIEF
  • Train and mentor team members, solve complex problems, and communicate project updates and deliverables
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures, organize project timelines, and collaborate with partners

We're Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has demonstrated expertise in protein mass spectrometry analysis, including intact mass and peptide mapping assays for identifying post-translational modifications on antibodies
  • Possesses a PhD in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or related field, or MSc with 5+ years in an academic or industry wet lab environment with emphasis on mass spectrometry
  • Thinks critically, is curious, and wants to explore new technologies and automation to improve the antibody characterization workflow and process
  • Has hands-on experience with sample preparation for mass spectrometry analysis and demonstrated experience in protein characterization using analytical chromatography, light scattering, thermal denaturation, or other analytical techniques

What We Offer:

Our hiring range for this role is CAD $75,200 - $94,000 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer equity, annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, and a 6% RRSP contribution. You'll also receive a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, professional development opportunities, comprehensive health benefits, and scientific and technical mentorship.
