About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in Surrey, B.C. as a Relief Part-Time Mental Health Care Specialist.
Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and patient-centered environment, providing high-quality care to patients with serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- a strong background in mental health nursing, preferably with experience in acute, tertiary or community settings
- excellent assessment and treatment skills, with the ability to develop and implement individualized care plans
- strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain accurate records
- a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle (if required)
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned clients, including conducting physical/psychosocial assessments, monitoring medical and psychiatric conditions, and providing psycho-education to individuals and their support systems
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and document psychosocial rehabilitative plans in collaboration with clients' support systems and interdisciplinary team members
- Facilitate individual and/or group treatment through cognitive, behavioral, educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods
- Provide life skills training when applicable in areas of personal life, leisure, and medical nursing interventions, and respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies
- Actively participate in and support the total therapeutic program of the unit
- Collect information from various sources using skills of observation, communication, and physical assessment to enable the provision of appropriate nursing care
- Communicate and consult with members of the healthcare team about clients' care; set priorities, assign, and delegate tasks to support staff; participate in interprofessional conferences; explain plan of care to clients and their family
- Act as an advocate to protect and promote clients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information
- Participate in quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting data
- Maintain a safe environment for clients, families, and staff by adhering to established safety and emergency practices and procedures
What We Offer:
We offer a competitive salary range of CAD $41.42 - $59.52 per hour, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth and development.
