Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Operator to join our Water Production team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of our water purification plants and remote facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on process equipment and vessels
  • Operate and maintain metering and valve control systems
  • Conduct chemical unloading and handling of process chemicals
  • Participate in the maintenance and repair of sludge collection and transfer systems
  • Work effectively with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the plant
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Minimum of 3 years of environmental, industrial, or chemical related work experience
  • Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods training certificate approved in Ontario
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of mechanics, functions, and emergency shutdowns on tanker trucks
  • Working knowledge of chemistry, physics, hydraulics, and electrical devices
  • Relevant Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change acts, regulations, standards, and guidelines
