Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Water Distribution Branch is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Distribution Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the review, analysis, and optimization of repair, maintenance, inspection, and improvement programs, procedures, and performance standards associated with the City's water distribution systems and components.

You will provide project management, project oversight, and design engineering support for various projects and contracts, maintain, review, and provide documentation, guidance, training, and technical support for water distribution staff, and contribute to ongoing service delivery and service improvement initiatives in the branch.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a focus on water distribution systems, and experience in a public works or utility environment. You will possess excellent technical skills, including knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal legislation, as well as design guidelines and standard specifications and drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and optimize repair, maintenance, inspection, and improvement programs, procedures, and performance standards associated with the City's water distribution systems and components.
  • Provide project management, project oversight, and design engineering support for various projects and contracts.
  • Maintain, review, and provide documentation, guidance, training, and technical support for water distribution staff.
  • Contribute to ongoing service delivery and service improvement initiatives in the branch.

Requirements

  • Completion of a 4-year university degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a public works or utility environment with progressive practical experience in operation and maintenance, technical support, or water system design.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) certification.
