Job Summary

The City of Ottawa's Water Distribution Branch is seeking a highly skilled Water Distribution Engineer to manage the operation and maintenance of the city's water distribution system. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and optimizing repair, maintenance, inspection, and improvement programs, procedures, and performance standards associated with the city's water distribution systems and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide project management, project oversight, and design engineering support for various projects and contracts
  • Maintain, review, and provide documentation, guidance, training, and technical support for water distribution staff
  • Contribute to ongoing service delivery and service improvement initiatives in the branch
  • Lead, and participate in, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Evaluate and recommend new material and equipment
  • Perform data analysis, formulate recommendations, and create and maintain reports
Requirements
  • Completion of 4-year university degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a public works or utility environment with progressive practical experience in operation and maintenance, technical support, or water system design
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
  • Ontario MOE Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certificate at the appropriate level is an asset
