About the Role:

The Overnight Support Specialist will provide support to ensure the safety, comfort, well-being, and security of each supported person during the overnight hours. This role is critical in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Remain awake throughout the respective shift and monitor individuals, providing counseling and care as needed.
  • Document each individual's overnight status and report any noteworthy occurrences or departures from usual nighttime behavior patterns.
  • Be familiar with fire drill procedures and ensure other staff members are also aware of them in case of an emergency.
  • Adhere to established directives and policies concerning the health, safety, and well-being of individuals, medication administration, supervision, and counseling.
  • Prepare designated documentation, such as daily logs, supported person information updates, and medication dispensing notifications.
  • Respond to incoming calls, provide standard responses, and record interactions.
  • Participate in staff meetings and relevant training sessions, including first aid, non-violent crisis prevention institute training, and fire/safety procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University, or completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and one year of related experience (preferably supporting individuals with ASD).
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to physically support children, youth, and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Ability to complete the NVCI certification and perform required physical techniques (training will be provided).
  • A valid Driver's License, with a minimum G2 in good standing.
  • As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver's Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points.
  • French language skills will be considered an asset.
