Building Attendant

Job Summary
The City of Hamilton is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Attendant to join our team. As a Building Attendant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to tenants, ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of the building, and performing various administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to tenants with lockouts and ensure access for emergency services
- Monitor fire alarm systems and respond to emergencies as required
- Conduct building openings and lock-ups, and change lock cores as needed
- Inspect and report any building deficiencies or maintenance problems
- Deliver letters, notices, and forms to tenants as required
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning up spills and sorting recyclables
- Perform minor repairs, such as toilet plunging and water shut-offs
Requirements
- Previous maintenance and customer service experience
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to speak, write, and understand English
- Understanding of basic emergency procedures
- Ability to perform daily inspections and minor repairs
- Physical ability to carry out light housekeeping duties
- Availability to provide shared coverage for the building
Working Conditions
The Building Attendant will be required to live on site and will be provided with residential accommodation, including heat, hydro, water, and a monthly phone allowance. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a satisfactory Criminal Records & Judicial Matters Check prior to beginning work.
