Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Carpenter Apprentice to join our team at NRB Modular Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of ATCO Structures Canada. As a Carpenter Apprentice, you will play a crucial role in assisting in the construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, ensuring compliance with local building codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construction and Installation: Build house frameworks, walls, roofs, exterior and interior finishes, and install doors, windows, flooring, cabinets, stairs, handrails, paneling, molding, and ceiling tiles.
  • Repair and Remodeling: Repair and remodel existing structures of all kinds, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute construction projects.
  • Material Selection and Management: Select materials, plan sequences and methods of work, and measure and mark materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions.
  • Tool Operation and Maintenance: Operate all hand and power tools required to perform tasks specific to the trade, and maintain tools in good working condition.
  • Quality Control: Check completed units to ensure they are level, square, plumb, and in the right size, shape, and location.
  • Compliance and Safety: Work accurately and economically, and follow national and local building codes, as well as safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Education and Training: Currently enrolled in a carpentry program as a 2nd year, 3rd year, or 4th year Carpenter Apprentice recognized by Alberta Trades.
  • Physical Demands: Perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 45 lbs.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Work collaboratively with the team, and communicate effectively to ensure successful project outcomes.
